Business Law Counsel for Entrepreneurs & Families

Practical Legal Guidance Grounded In Real-World Business Experience

At The Lively Group, we approach every matter as both a law practice and a business in its own right. Jacob Lively is a business attorney, entrepreneur, and former C-suite executive who has sat where our clients sit, making decisions that affect employees, cash flow, and long-term strategy.

We serve entrepreneurs, business owners, and families who want legal counsel aligned with practical business outcomes. Because Jacob and Gracie Lively are small business owners themselves, we understand how each legal decision shows up in daily operations, not just in a statute or contract clause.

If you are facing a business, creditor-debtor, labor-employment, or wills-trusts-probate question, contact The Lively Group at (479) 679-7002 to schedule a time to talk about your situation.

Who We Serve & How We Work

The Lively Group operates as a solo business law practice through The Lively Firm, giving you direct access to counsel instead of being routed through layers of staff. We work with privately held businesses, entrepreneurs launching new ventures, and families who need coordinated planning across business and personal matters.

Jacob uses his legal training and former C-suite experience to look at your legal questions through an executive lens. We discuss the legal landscape, but we keep our attention on what each option means for cash, control, timing, and long-term positioning.

Jacob earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. He is licensed in Texas and Arkansas and admitted to practice in the Eastern and Western District Courts of Arkansas.

Business-Focused Legal Services

Our practice focuses on four core areas that frequently intersect for business owners and their families. This allows us to see the full picture rather than treating each issue in isolation.

Business Law

We help business owners address the legal questions that come with starting, operating, and growing privately held businesses. Our work often includes guidance on business entity formation, contract drafting and review, asset protection, and business transitions as ownership or leadership evolves.

Through The Lively Group, we also work with privately held businesses in a broader strategic business advisor capacity that complements direct legal representation by keeping business strategy and legal structure aligned.

Creditor-Debtor

Commercial credit relationships can strain when cash flow tightens. We handle creditor-debtor law matters that involve both creditor recovery efforts and debtor-side obligations. Our goal is to help you understand your rights and options so you can make informed decisions about repayment, restructuring, or enforcement actions.

Labor-Employment

For many small and midsize businesses, employees and contractors are the largest ongoing investment. We advise on labor and employment law issues such as employment agreements, independent contractor classifications, and workplace compliance questions that arise as your team grows or changes.

We focus on helping you set expectations clearly on the front end to reduce the risk of disputes that distract from running your business.

Wills, Trusts & Probate

Business ownership and personal estate planning are closely connected. We provide wills, trusts, and probate services to help business owners plan for succession and protect both personal and business assets across generations.

Whether you are documenting your first will or updating an existing plan to reflect a new venture, we work to align your estate documents with your business structure and goals.

Why Business Owners Work With The Lively Firm

Many business lawyers can explain the law. Our role goes further: we help you connect legal choices to real-world business results. Jacob uses his background as an attorney and former C-suite executive to keep overall business outcomes at the forefront while navigating the legal issues you face daily.

Because Jacob and Gracie are active small business owners, we understand concerns about payroll, vendor relationships, financing, and risk from the inside. This operational perspective shapes how we communicate, how we prioritize, and how we help you weigh tradeoffs.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for our clients by applying Jacob's strengths, talents, and resources to move matters forward. As a solo practice, we offer a single, consistent point of contact. You know who is reviewing your contracts, preparing your documents, and advising you on next steps.

Where We Are Licensed & How To Get Started

Jacob is based in Northwest Arkansas and licensed to practice law in both Texas and Arkansas, with federal court admittance to the Arkansas Eastern and Western District Courts. We serve clients across these jurisdictions, using technology to meet and collaborate efficiently.

The best starting point is to visit our website at jjl.law. There you can learn more about who we are, how we work with privately held businesses and families, and how to request a consultation.

Prospective clients typically begin with an initial consultation to see whether our approach and experience fit their situation. During that conversation, we talk through your immediate questions, outline potential paths, and discuss how we might work together.

Frequently Asked Questions About Business Law Counsel

What Types Of Businesses Do You Typically Help?

We work primarily with privately held businesses and entrepreneurs. This includes new ventures that are still selecting a business entity structure, established companies reviewing contracts or policies, and family-owned businesses planning for leadership or ownership transitions.

How Is Business Law Different From General Practice Law?

Business law focuses on the legal issues that arise from forming, operating, financing, and transitioning businesses. A general practice may touch many unrelated areas, while our work stays centered on business, creditor-debtor, labor-employment, and wills-trusts-probate matters that directly affect business owners and their families.

When Should A Business Owner Consult A Business Attorney?

It is usually more efficient to involve a business attorney before you sign, commit, or make structural changes. Common times to call include forming a new entity, entering significant contracts, changing ownership, adding key employees, or facing a dispute with a customer, vendor, or lender.

Can You Also Help With Personal Estate Planning For Business Owners?

Yes. Our wills, trusts, and probate work includes planning for business owners who want their personal estate plan to coordinate with their business interests. We focus on how ownership, control, and value will be handled if something happens to you, so your family and your company have clear direction.
